SOC 110 WEEK 2 Creating an Agenda

SOC 110 WEEK 2 Creating an Agenda

This week’s assignment also has two parts:

  • Part 1: Create an agenda for a team meeting on a topic of your choice.
    • Either use the agenda format from Appendix A last week, from the chapters this week, or find a template from a credible source on the web. If you choose this last option, be sure to cite where you found the template. Note that simply using the format in Microsoft Word will not give you the needed content, just the needed format.
    • Draw from your own experience working within a group with the goal of achieving a specific task. You may use your experience as a student working in a group, or develop a plan for a future learning team.
    • Include specific items requiring group discussion and consensus (aka discussion items and action items), and note where these occur with something like (group discussion) or (requires consensus) as part of your agenda.
      • Please note – you are creating an actual agenda here. Not describing one or writing a paper about one.
      • Also – an agenda and a schedule are not the same thing. Please check the chapters for templates for an agenda. You’ll be evaluted on following the appropriate format and including the appropriate parts.
  • Part 2: In addition to the agenda, write a 300- to 500-word summary of the following, drawing upon (and properly citing) course material for each answer:

    • How can you plan to ensure a group communicates effectively during a real-time meeting?
    • What are the characteristics of effective teams (you may have to look back at last week’s materials for this)?
    • How do roles, needs, and diversity affect teamwork? Provide specific examples.
    • What are components of group diversity?

Incorporate these guidelines:

  • You must separate the disccusion portion topics in your paper with at least first-level headings, and second-level headings where appropriate. See the APA sample paper in the library for details.
  • Be sure to fully address each of the bullet points indicated above.
  • Your paper should be well written, including appropriate transitions, tone, and flow.
  • Your paper should have proper mechanics including spelling, grammar, and appropriate use of APA citation style and references.
  • Special note on spelling: EACH error that a spellchecker would have caught will cost you an EXTRA 1% off of your possible points on the paper. PROOFREAD AND SPELLCHECK.
  • Your paper should be entirely your own original work, except where specifically indicated otherwise by the use of citations.

Click the Assignment Files tab to submit your agenda and summary as a .doc or .docx file. No other formats will be accepted.
